My friends are very important to me. Each and every one of them have been a
great friend to me even when things are not good. So let me explain to you in
the next 3 paragraphs what being a good friend means.

Being a good friend values you to care for one another. That means showing
respect or aroha to show that you care for them even when something is hard.
For example when your friend is going through a rough time you should always
be there to show aroha and be kind-hearted towards them so they can feel
better and know that you will always care for her/him.

Another way of being a good friend is having trust in your friendship.
Yes, that means having trust between you and your friends whether its a boy or
girl. That shows you know that if you tell them something personal you can trust
that they won’t apprise anyone.

Encouraging your friend is another way of being a good friend. Meaning you are
always there to encourage them in doing something they’ve never tried before
or when they are in a game. E.g if you are at their rugby game you will be on the
sideline encouraging him/her to either do a big tackle , score a try or get the kick
over the goal post.

And there you go, 3 ways of being a good friend. I know that my friends care
and trust me. They also encourage me, especially to try something new. Even
if it was me trying to play a sport like football and I fail the first couple of times
there still there to help me out and encourage me to keep going. I hope you are
one of those people.

Today we got the opportunity to mark our own writing test ( the writing above). as part of me marking my writing we did colour coding. As you can see yellow represents you statement , green is your explanation, and blue is for your example.

Missing Someone

There was a time in life when I used to have a older sister, Her name
was lyric Kendall-Stephens. I wasn’t quite born yet to see how my
sister looked when she was just a beautiful baby. As time went past
I got older and older, when I had turn 12 I found photos of my sister
when she was a baby.

I was so happy that I got to see what she had looked like, She was so
beautiful. Some days I just wish she was here right now sitting by my
side. I really loved seeing her photos. She was the second oldest in our
family out of us 4 kids, It went My brother Kayden, My sister Lyric, Me
Myztique, and my little sister Leigharna.

It would have been great if she was with us here today, but she’s in a
better place in “heaven” with GOD.

This week we've been doing Rhyming poems. we were give in the task to make up poems about what we do in our Senior Block,We learnt that all poems don't need to rhyme as long as they have rhythm.

Laziness

Another day in the life of laziness, I myself had to wake up early in the morning to get ready for school.

As you can see on the top of this paragraph is photos of the morning sunrise and tired animals, and
they pretty much shows was I looked like when I woke up this morning. The first photo is revealing you
how comfy I was lying down nice and warm in bed, the second photo shows the sun rising behind the
big old trees. The third photo manifests how hard it was for me to open my eyes and how lazy I was to
get up, and lastly the last photo presents me getting up out of my warm comfy bed to get ready for
school.

Ned's Adventure !

This morning we had special visitors that came to our school to talk to the whole school about something
special. Can you guess who it is ? if you guessed Ned your right, Ned also came with a friend named
Cosmo. They’ve only been in Aotearoa once and only for a week. They are here to talk about how there
adventure went/was in the country Kenya based in Africa.

They’re first topic they talked about was about our superhero powers, and that power was our smile.
when you smile it brings the whole world together, He had multiple reasons why and how our smile can
change the world. One of his quotes that stood out to me was “smiles can break down walls”.
The reason to it is that if you smile it can bring people a happier life.

Then he talked about the matters of people, and how you care for one another. Caring for other people

can change lives, though you may not know them you still care it helps bring love and happiness into our
world and community. The five things he listed that were apart of this topic were , Each person matters a
lot, Caring is cool, different can be good, I can make friends everywhere and Include others.

In every country we all know there are different languages that are said. And in Kenya they have a way of
speaking their own language where us New Zealanders just speak English which most of us understand
,we do also speak other languages but English is what we prefer most, In New Zealand .Whatever culture
you are or whatever language you speak at home, feel free to express it around the world, It’s a way
that people can also communicate to you, and to try new languages.  I like to learn new
things, and I wouldn’t be more happier if I could learn a new language from a country
I’ve never really heard of.

He then talked about the education, and compares the times we wake up and the times the Kenya kids
wake up.  Here in Aotearoa the times our kids wake up is at 7:00 am and over in Kenya the kids over
there wake up at 5:00 am every single day for school. My questions towards that is, is it because they
have to walk a far distance? Or because they start very early?. I only live a few blocks down from school
and I always have to wake up at 6:00 every morning to get ready.

These messages can help everyone. It was good to know the difference between the students here in

Aotearoa and the students in Kenya. It was also good to know the five importance of how to be kind to
other people. and they were, difference can be good, caring is cool, I can make friends anywhere, each
person matters a lot and include others. My favourite one out of all of the five is, Difference can be good,
The reason why is because being different is a good way to learn different things, like for e.g if your
Islander and you wanna learn how to speak another language like what Kenya speak, you can always
give it a go. No matter how much you fail you still get up and try your best until you get it.

Fun Holiday

Have you been doing the same thing over and over again in the holidays, and getting sick and tired of it ? well here are four ideas I have for you to make your holiday fun. I’m sure you are very tired of doing the same thing over and over again, and i’m sure that thing you do it ‘Nothing’. But if you wanna have some fun I suggest you keep reading and at least admire one of these idea i have for you and give it a go.

Idea 1: Making your chores fun and funner than they already are.

E.g Instead of you cleaning the dishes and cleaning the floors you should clean yourself and your siblings, and no I don’t mean go have a shower and actually clean yourself ,, I mean like go have a water fight and use the soap well your at it, and say to your parents “were done with our shower”. But make sure you also wet your parents so they can join in with the fun.

Now that we're done with the chores and there over with, here’s second idea: is to play fortnite everyday with your friends, but make sure you do in and outs so that the game is fair at the same times its being fun. Then on fortnite make sure you also do those ‘COOL’ as dance moves so you can join in with it.

Also you can play some physical games outside with your neighbours and play softball or something, and if you ever play softball to make it fun you should make the person that hits the ball slide to the bases like slip in slide, and have the bases as big floaties and put funky stuff in it for them to sit in. I promise you it will be ‘Very Fun’. but make sure you don’t make any mud piles or your gonna get a slap to your head.

Here’s my last and final idea. Whenever your parents are home and your alone your always hungry right ? if your one of those familiar people I suggest you make a lot of pancakes until your plate is full and heavy,Also put bananas and syrup all over you pancakes , trust me it will be delicious. But when you finish eating you got to make sure you do the dishes so you don’t get in trouble.

There we go, there are some good ideas to try in your next school holidays. Remember to get the important things done first - like your chores before entering the fun zone, you could cook a big breakfast in the morning so you could skip lunch to continue playing fortnite or any other activities ( before MUM & DAD come home). Use your time wisely to get a better chance at getting things done your way. Happy holiday !!

How to prevent yourself from getting sick

We all know getting sick isn’t a great feeling right, and you know when you get sick the sickness that you have can spread around to other people. When you spread your sickness it can cause people to have pain.

A way that I know you could keep yourself from getting sick is to keep clean. Keeping clean means you have to have a shower twice a day one in the morning and one at night, cleaning you self is a very big deal because maybe you don’t know this but many people have had many things happen to them because of not keeping clean. 

Another way that could keep yourself  from getting sick is to eat more healthy food.If your the type of person that eats a lot of junk food it is necessary to stop and eat less junk food and eat more healthy food.if you eat junk food everyday for the past 2 or 3 months you may get a sickness called diabetes, and that’s why people eat Healthy food is mainly what people do to stop that from happening. 

One last way is to wear warmer clothes when it freezing cold. When it’s freezing cold everyone knows you can catch a cold, Catching a cold isn’t as bad as catching any other cold but I would prefer you to still keep yourself warm. When you catch a cold it doesn’t just go away like that you have to wait maybe 2 weeks or even more for it to disappear, to prevent to cold from going you could drink hot chocolate or soup, the soup and hot chocolate helps your insides to get more warmer and souths up all the coldness for you so that you could breathe better and be able to talk better if you’ve lost your voice.

Now that you’ve read through all the reasons how you could catch a sickness I hope that this has helped you if not much I hope even a little. The reason why I picked those three reasons was because I know that Eating healthy food, Keeping clean and wearing warm clothes is ways to not get sick.

How to save money

         How to save money

When you save your money it helps you even more. It could help with your family, it could help you go to expensive places to maybe buy your partner or friend dinner, it will honestly help you with a lot of things.

You know if you save your money by putting it in a bank you could have millions of coins and wouldn’t even know it,we all know that saving money is hard,but eventually you will start needing to save money for something that you wanna do but costs a lot of money.

Something that would help you the most is buying cheap groceries for home. E.G if you were at a grocery store and there were a pile of apples that cost $1.99 or another pile that cost $2.70 which pile of apples would you prefer. In my opinion I  think it would be best to go for the $1.99 pile because its more cheaper and it could help you to save more money.

Saving power is one of the most main reasons for saving money. E.G every time you have a shower or leave the light on at night the power runs out, power is the electricity in your house right and if you keep leaving your Tv or lights on during the night the power will start running and then eventually you will have to by new things which isn't helpful cause you wanna save money.

Now that you’ve read this hopefully it helped you to save money more often. Even if  your in a country that cant really afford  money you can always just save 10 cents or 20 cents it still does count as saving money.

Athletics Day!!

                         Athletics Day!!

On the 10th of Friday we had athletics. In athletics there are different sports activity, like Discus, shot put, softball throw, and many more. The house colours are Hikianalia (Yellow), Hine Moana (Blue), Hokule'a(Green) and Te Aurere(Red) and of course I was In the best team of all time HIKIANALIA.

The year 7 girls first went to softball throw. Softball throw is just one of the fun activities.We all split up into lines of our colours, the serious main sports was Shot put, Discus and 100m sprints. In softball It didn't really matter what I came I was going for my personal best weather I came 1st, 2nd, 3rd,or even last.

Most people know if you come 1st to 4th in anything you go to inter zones, where you compete against other athletes. Every year when we have athletics we all dress up as our house colours, like this year everyone was so coloured it was awesome even the teachers dressed up. There were heaps of current student helping it was fun. 

Year 7 boys was always behind us. there activity they were at was our current activity which was softball throw, the aim of the game was technically just trying to see how far you could through the ball, if you came one of the top three then you would compete against each other to really see who came 1st, 2nd or 3rd. The top three throwers out of the year 7 boys were Javan, Tevita and Richard.

My favourite highlight of this years athletics was Volley, because we were all laughing and having a good time. Even though our yellow team lost most of our games we never gave up, and that's what makes a good sports team.

AIM for Success

This morning we had a very special guest that came in named Mr Patterson. He came in to talk to us about aim for success, A + I = M ( aspiration + inspiration = motivation ). Another thing we were told by Mr Patterson was that being a giver can lead to a happy path, yesterday Mr Patterson had to wait in a line with about 200 people. And in that line there were a young couple that had 3 younger children under 5 years, so Mr Patterson offered to let them stand in front of him and then suddenly a person came over and said they could come to the front of the line and the end everybody was happy and agreed that the would stay in the front.  

Did you know that that a 11 year old boy named Willie changed an older gentle mans life? Well we were shown a video that showed a 11 year old boy helping out an older man, one day Willie was walking to school and saw that man crying which made Willie go over to him and give him his lunch money. For about 2 weeks Willie would give his lunch and his lunch money to that poor homeless man, then another day that man walked with Willie to school and told everyone what Willie had done then Willie had gotten a gold certificate, and his school only hands a golden certificate probably once a year. 

and lastly we were shown a Quote that had said *if you do what you want, you'll never work a day in your life*. If you do what you love and work hard at doing things important you'll never work a day in your life even if it means a lot at least you did what you loved first. 

It was inspiring hearing Mr Patterson talk to us about all of this. the most inspiring part was when he told us about Willie, helping a homeless man can change a life, being a giver can make people happy, and doing what you love can lead to a good education.

Floundering Time

                                                FLOUNDER TIME!!!

This Morning our whole school went down to the beach ( Wai o Taiki bay ) to watch a few students and teachers catch some baby flounder. When we made it down to the Wai o Taiki bay we sang a few songs, The songs were, Tai Aroha, Ko te Whaea and Whakataka te hau. Our school partner Kauri flats school caught 4 flounder so our goal is to catch more than 4 flounder to set the high score out of our two schools. We are catching baby flounder to put in our fish tank so that the baby flounder can grow to bigger flounder and then we will release them back into the sea. 

Mr Vogt provided the flounder students and teachers with flounder catching tools. You can find flounder in any sea but when you are trying to look for one it may take ages because some flounder blend in with the sand or the water witch means it is hard to catch some. Our people that went down to catch our flounder haven't really found any yet, because of how flounder blend in with the things in the sea or it is just because the baby flounder may not be where they are looking, so maybe they have to move out further or in closer.  But we all hope they catch a lot for our school. When the flounder is fried its DELICIOUS!!.

Information 1st element	People borrow books from the library because it helps keep their brain going. They also borrow books because it can be very interesting to read. There are different types of books like, adventure,fantasy,romance,history,our days and excitement. There are also chapter books, comics,short books,novels and ordinary books.
Information 2nd element	People borrow books from the library because it helps them in their general knowledge. They also borrow books because it helps build up their vocabulary. People borrow books from the library because they enjoy reading and it’s free. The can borrow books from different author’s. Also because the library has many books to choose from. The nice thing about borrowing books from a library is that you can get as many books as you like for no cost (free) as long as you are a member of that library.
Information 3rd element	It’s good to get books because you can learn new words from it. The main thing about a book is that you have to understand it and you have to know the meaning of the words. When you are getting a  book from the library you have to make sure that you can read
Conclusion	Sometimes people don’t know what they are reading so that means that they could be reading it too fast, they can’t read it, they don’t know what the words mean and they don’t understand the whole meaning of the book.

Avengers Assemble

On a hot sunny day Courtney was at the beach because she had a day off from her part time job as a scientist.   She was a scientist because she was a very smart lady that knew stuff about turning people into something and knew how to hack into to the government's computer .

As she was walking to the bus stop, suddenly a blue girl with orange hair named Mystique jumped out from behind a parked car. She frightened Courtney and made her shriek in terror! “Don’t be afraid,” said Mystique.

Then mystique took Courtney to her dungeon and locked her up.  Then mystique made this potion and put it into some water so that Courtney can drink it and make Courtney stay asleep for 30 minutes then she will die.

Then iron man saw on TV that there was someone in danger, so he quickly got dressed into his iron man suit and flu to the dungeon in about 20 seconds. When he got there he busted into the dungeon and saw mystique pouring the poison potion into her cup of water, Courtney didn't see mystique pouring the potion in.

So Iron man Flu to mystique and fighted her to try and get the cup of water and tip it out before she gave the cup of water to Courtney, Then Iron Man Tied her up to the pole and to the key from mystique to open the door so that courtney was free. After he defeated mystique he took courtney back to her house and she had a rest. Then Iron Man Quickly flew back to the dungeon and took mystique to the police station to put her in jail for 5 years.  

He saved the day YAH!

Helping Christian the lion

 Have you ever helped a lion before? Well these two men from new Zealand named Ace and John helped this lion that was for sale in harrods in United Kingdom ( London). Cramped and Lonely in a small cage, So they decided to bring him home.

Then they took him home and feed him and looked after him very well.Then later the next day they took that lion named christian to africa and released him into the wild and also he was the head of the pride. Then he introduced his wife to Ace and John, Ace and john were happy that christian had a wife.

But before christian the lion introduced his wife to them they had the happiest hug that they’ve ever had, They were so glad that they realest christian to the wild and that he got to see his wife again.

Will she save her

One Night Mary- Jane was walking back from work , She was so exhausted when she got home she went straight to bed. While she was sleeping she heard Something break and got out of her bed and sneaked through the house and then she turned around and saw a big green face right in front of her and then she passed out and frankenstein laughed at her. 

Frankenstein put mary in a sack and went to the sky tower. When they got to the sky tower, frankenstein climbed up to the top of the tower and took mary out of the sack when Mary got took out of the sack she just realised that she was on the top of the sky tower she was so frightened then he threw her down towards the street. She screamed with fright, HELP! HELP! Then suddenly supergirl was flying by the sky tower and saw that Mary was in perilous danger! Supergirl quickly flew to mary and catched her before she hit the ground like a pancake on the street.

After all that drama Mary-Jane went through she was so relieved that she got saved by supergirl. During all that drama she was so frightened she almost passed out but luckily she didn't.
