Accidental plastics and Persuasive writing

Today our class is focusing on our Key Competencies. Our aim was to stay on task and see how much progress we make for reading and writing in one morning block. This should set the standard for how much work we complete each time we have literacy.

Our two learning intentions were:
WALT: 1. Show how much progress we can make in one literacy session
2. Articulate what we are learning about.

WALT: Use prior knowledge along with information in the text to interpret abstract ideas.
This text about how plastic was accidentally made during the 1900's. this text tells us who made the plastics during the 1900's and how he made the plastics. The name of the man the invented plastics was john hyatt.

WALT: how to capture an audience using persuasive writing.
This writing text is about persuasive writing. we were learning about how to capture and audience using persuasive writing. On these slides there are different examples with a title, on these slides they ave names of different words that mean something.

My FUN Week

This week the year 7's had fun and exciting activity's to do, well the year 8's were out at camp. There were three activity's to do, they were Art, Team building and cooking. In cooking we made truffles, In Art we made posters E.g you never know until you try, And lucky last Team Building, we had three activity's to do and they were to see who could build a tall tower using marshmallows and spaghetti sticks, and we all had a challenge to see who could build a tower with cups and then un build it ,and the lucky last challenge was us using straws and puff balls. The first day when we started doing these things was on Wednesday, but before we did any of that we had to get into our groups of three and make up a Group name, Group  and who were the to Group leaders. After that we found out what the other groups name was. One of the groups name was Fobalicous the other group was Munchies and Our group was called the Churries, through this whole week we've been doing fun activity's and challenges. Today is our last day of having the best time of our entire school week, The first challenge we did was building a tower with cups and un building them which was a bit hard but fun at the same time, Before it all ended the teacher had a race but just for fun.

Making Truffles with the CHURRIES Group

Today me and my group the CHURRIES got to do some cooking. In this cooking situation we made Truffles, with Chocolate chips, Cocoa Powder, Super Wine Biscuits, Deccicated Coconut and Condense Milk. The first thing we did was pour 3/4 cups of choc chips, then we had to smash and bash the super wine biscuits.  As soon as we finished smashing the biscuits we put the deccicated coconut in then poured in all the bashed biscuits. The last thing we poured in was a whole can of condensed milk. Then Lucky last we mixed it all together till it all was mixed in well together and it wasn't as gooey like it was before. Once all the groups finished mixing in the ingredients together we grabbed a medium sized piece and rolled it into a ball so that it would be easier for each group to roll it into the Deccicated coconut.

Complex Sentences

WALT: Identify the features of complex sentences

In class we did complex sentence. Complex sentences is when you use two different highlights to highlight a sentence that you think is independent and what you think is dependent.When you read the sentence you colour them in with the two highlights. Blue is for independent and red is for Dependent.
